One of the most important things to do is become familiar with resources available to you at Yorkville University. Please review our A-Z Databases section, and feel free to contact our Library staff if you have questions on which databases would be most beneficial for your topic of research. 

However, there are many other important strategies for obtaining additional resources for your major project or thesis. Continue reading this section for further key strategies for obtaining more full-text access.

Alumni Access

Contact Your Previously Attended University for Alumni Library Access

A great source of additional resources (e.g., ebooks, journal articles, etc.) is through access to any previous school you may have attended. Most universities will provide you with special Alumni access to their library resources.  Even if you have not attended University in many years, you should still contact your previously attended university to identify if you have access to their online library resources. 

Public Library

Connect with your Local Public Library for Inter-Library Loan Services

It is often overlooked, but your local Public Library is an excellent source of additional resources for your studies and major project work.  Public Libraries can obtain academic books/ for you on Inter-Library Loan.  They may also provide access to peer-review academic databases. Major cities, such as Toronto and Vancouver, may also include specialized supports, such as LinkedIn Learning videos that provide educational training on any number of important academic and business topics.  Be sure to connect with your local Public Library.
