Google Scholar

Finding Additional Citations using Google Scholar's "Cited by..." Feature

In a major project, capstone, or thesis you will find resources important to your work, such as a specific journal article, book or author. When you identify a resource that is exactly what you need for your research, you can use Google Scholar to find similar resources by using the "Cited by..." feature. The cited by features provides you with many interesting options.

  • Identify the articles, books, etc. that cite a journal article or book that you identified as important to your work.
  • You can then review those results, or narrow them further by year of publication.
  • Alternatively, you can also search within those results to identify specific topics.

Below is a quick video presentation on Google Scholar's "Cited by..." feature.

EBSCO's "Find Similar Results" Feature

Use the "Find Similar Results" option

Another way to identify resources is by means of the "Find Similar Results" option in our Discovery search engine. If you find an article that you feel is ideal for your work, you can find similar resources. When you review any article in the detail view, you can find a "Find Similar Results" button on the far left of the screen. This will show you similar resources to review.
