eBook Borrowing Tutorial

Library vs. Bookstore

BOOKSTORE VS. LIBRARY

First, it is important to know that not all textbooks required for your courses are available through the library. However, for those that are, the distinction is ownership. When you purchase your textbook through the bookstore, you own (or rent) the eBook and can access it anywhere, at any time, based on your level of ownership. Borrowing eBooks from YU's library is just that - borrowing. Different eBooks have different limitations, but these may include page download limits (ie. a maximum of 30 pages), time limits before the downloaded file is automatically returned, etc. While many of the eBooks available through YU's subscriptions are DRM-free with universal access, this isn't the case for all titles.
